We achieved another milestone last week when we craned the first panel of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) into position on our next large CLT project at Aveo Norwest. It has been a long journey for the whole team as we have been involved in the design of this project from the very early stages and it was great to have the client and design team out on site to see it fixed into position.

Aveo Norwest is one of the largest CLT structures currently under construction with around 3,000m3 of CLT being used in the construction of 64 luxury retirement living apartments over 10 levels, 9 of which are constructed out of CLT. Along with retail on ground floor and a conference centre over 2 levels, this project will set a new standard in vertical retirement living.

A large early works package was also included requiring the building of a new dam, weir wall and detention basin as well as basement parking up to and including podium level.

The site is prominently located and can be seen from Old Windsor Road and also the M7, so if you are driving by make sure you check out the progress as the timber structure goes up.

The project pushes the boundaries of design and capabilities of CLT and will be a striking looking building upon completion.

Many thanks to the vision and commitment to innovation by Aveo Group and the dedication and support of the project team including Mulpha Norwest, PDS Group, Jackson Teece, TTW and Private Certifiers Australia.
